Expecting a child has to be one of the most wonderful experiences in the world. The anticipation of the joyous days that will follow the arrival of that bundle of joy excites the parents-to-be.

Watts was overcome with melancholy. While her baby did not survive, she was unable to leave with the cot she had purchased for him, and having it at home served as a reminder of the sorrow that had befallen her.

Kumpula resided a few kilometres away and had a workshop on Cokato’s outskirts. He was interested in purchasing the cot when he saw it at the Watts family garage sale, even though it wasn’t on sale.

Kumpulas were unaware of the significance of the cot at the time.

Kumpulas was aware that the cot belonged to the Watts family, so after transforming it, he chose to return it to them.

Kumpulas’ cot bench serves as a remembrance of the terrible times, but it also serves as a sign of solace for the bereaved parents.
