‘The View’ Tears Into “Dumb” Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney Campaign Criticism: Beer “Doesn’t Have a Belief System”

The ladies of The View are laying into “Republican hypocrites” following the angry backlash over Bud Light’s sponsorship deal with trans TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney.

After reading the Hot Topics segment — which mentioned that people are now destroying their beer in “various stupid ways” — Whoopi Goldberg asked, “What are you so angry about? Beer does not have a — I mean, it’s not a Democrat or a Republican. It doesn’t have a belief system. It’s just beer!”

Sunny Hostin pointed out how “dumb” it is for people to be destroying their own beer before telling the panel, “We know that this country is highly transphobic. And it’s unbelievable to me,” to which Goldberg suggested, “Let’s say that maybe the transphobic people get the att ention. I doubt that the country’s as transphobic.”

Hostin added that people are declaring Bud Light as an “American beer,” despite being owned by Anheuser-Busch — a Belgian company.

“If it’s an American beer, transgender people are American, too,” chimed in Ana Navarro, who said she remembers when “Republican hypocrites were against cancel culture.” She added, “LGBTQ people are American, too.”

Meanwhile, Alyssa Farah Griffin believed it was a “smart move” for Bud Light to team up with Mulvaney, whom she said was “a great person to go through,” as she thinks the LGBTQ community “tends to like craft beer and skinny cocktails.”

However, the segment began to derail when Hostin brought up the company’s latest ad — which she said is a sign of the company “dialing back” after their campaign with Mulvaney sparked backlash.

“They unleashed the Clydesdale horses! All the sudden they have this trans, like —” she began, before Goldberg cut her off with, “No, the horse is not trans.”

Hostin continued, “All of a sudden they get this backlash and their response is, ‘Let’s get the horses out!’ And I was like, ‘Because horses are so much more American than trans people.’”

Goldberg then went on to close out the segment with one final message for the beer company.

“Listen Budweiser, we’re all Americans here. We appreciate your beer whether it’s light or your regular beer. You have every right and we have every right to buy it if we like it,” she said. “Don’t let them scare you. Let us scare you.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
