After Chris Wallace lost his spot with Fox News, the news reporter has been going after some of the biggest fishes in the sea of Hollywood. Recently, Wallace nailed down an interview date with 85-year-old Jane Fonda as she promoted her new comedy film 80 For Brady.
However, viewers were stunned to watch the interview between Chris Wallace and Jane Fonda because Fonda started to blatantly flirt with Wallace in front of the camera.
Jane Fonda, who was nicknamed Hanoi Jane after she went to Vietnam during the Vietnam War to protest America’s involvement in the conflict, got flirty with Chris Wallace, 75 when she opened up about how awkward she can get at parties.
“I hate parties. I hate cocktail parties. I always end up finding one person that is interesting and sitting in a corner all night. Do you do that?” she asked.
“I know what you’re saying,” Wallace replied.
Fonda then revealed something about her personality that not many people know about the outspoke actress – she considers herself to be “shy.”
“Because I’m shy, basically. Which, you know, just small talk. I don’t. I can’t do it. Isn’t that boring? Are you married?” Fonda continued.
“Yes. Are you interested?” asked Wallace.
“No, I just thought I should invite you to parties so that the two of us can just go into a corner,” Fonda said.
Wallace responded, “I would love that.”
Both Fonda and Wallace have a history of failed marriages. Fonda has been married and divorced three times.
Her first marriage was to French filmmaker Roger Vadim from 1965 to 1973. She then divorced him and fell in love with political activist Tom Hayden, whom she was married to from 1973 to 1990.
After their divorce, Fonda quickly tied the knot with CNN mogul Ted Turner and remained married to him for a decade, from 1991 to 2001.
Wallace has been in two marriages. His first marriage ended in divorce, but his second one continues to this day.
He has been married. Happily, it can be assumed, to his current wife Lorraine Smothers since they tied the knot in 1997.
According to The Independent, Fonda was all over the place with her Wallace interview. In addition to flirting with the former Fox News presenter, Fonda confirmed that she is “not scared of dying” because she sees it as “an adventure” she will get to take one day.
“I kind of, you know… I don’t want to go – I still have a lot to do,” she said. “What I’m really scared of is getting to the end of life with a lot of regrets when there’s no time to do anything about it.”
When it comes to her life, Fonda has “very few regrets.” However, she did wish she could have been a different “kind of mother” to her three children.
“I have great, great children, talented, smart – and I just didn’t know how to do it,” she revealed.
